Ops new proposals accepted

Members have voted to accept new proposals to resolve the long-running London Operations dispute.

Proposals tabled on 18 July were accepted by more than 88% of those voting in a recent consultative ballot. These proposals include:

  • The right to refuse duty longer than 12 hours.
  • Additional payments for hours over 12.
  • Consolidation of previous short term acting payments.
  • Travel time and mileage calculated as elsewhere in the BBC.
The proposals were made in response to industrial action which has been carried out by ESPG members since March across London Operations. This action, which was suspended for the period of the ballot, has now been withdrawn.

Full details of the ballot and the current situation can be found on the main BECTU site

The ballot covers staff in London Operations areas:

  • Studios
  • Post Production
  • Graphics
  • Technical Services
  • Television and Radio OBs
Any problems with the implementation of the proposals should be referred to the ESPG Branch Committee as soon as possible.
