90% for Bank Holiday action

More than 90% of members responding to the Bank Holiday ballot are prepared to take action.

According to the ballot, distributed to UPA2 ESPG members in London Television Studios and Post Production, more than 90% of those responding are prepared to take industrial action following problems with scheduling Bank Holidays and the associated weekends over the past year.

The result of ballot, which closed on 1 August 2002:

Are you prepared to take one or both forms of industrial action outlined below following a formal ballot? YES NO
1. To work to the letter of the Resources Terms and Conditions (ie 'work to rule')? 94% 6%
2. In addition to 1 above that if an RD is incorrectly scheduled the member of staff concerned will not be available for work across the related Bank Holiday weekend regardless of any allocation of duties to those days? 91% 9%

The Branch Committee has now agreed that a monitoring exercise will be carried on the forthcoming 26 August Bank Holiday.

ESPG members in UPA2 Studios and Post Production areas will be asked to provide feedback to the Branch Committee if scheduling has been carried out in line Resources Terms and Conditions section 9(e) along with the ESPG recommendation on associated good allocation practice.

Details of how this exercise will be carried out will be issued shortly.
