Sound acting agreed

Agreement has been reached on a definition for Studio Sound PA or phone acting.

Studio Sound line-management have now agreed that when a Sound Assistant 2 (SA2) carries out complex PA or telephone duties on a programme they are acting to Sound Assistant 1 level (band 6).

Such duty days will count towards the annual twenty-five days of acting and backdating has been agreed from December 1st 2001.

A full definition of complex PA and Phones has been circulated to everyone in the Studio Sound Section, but basically for PA staff have to be producing an independent mix using multiple individual sources and for Phones have more than 20 in-coming/out-going lines in the studio.

Any days where such duties have been carried out should be included in the total number of acting days for the year (1 December 2001 - 30 November 2002), and where this exceeds 25, staff should highlight this with Sound line management and seek additional payment.
