VR camera claim

TV25 is currently drawing up a grading claim concerning Studio Operations Camera staff carrying out VR duties.

VR (Virtual Reality) equipment is currently installed in TC5, and is used in other studios on an ad hoc basis. Used on such programmes as Grandstand, the equipment allows a CSO background to track foreground cameras zooming, panning and tilting.

Camera staff normally operate this equipment using remote control cameras, along with adjusting electronically generated backgrounds to ensure correct picture alignment.

The Branch believes this calls for significant additional skills and responsibilities over and above current Camera job descriptions.
