ESPG (Engineering Studios Post Group) is the BECTU Branch based at BBC Television Centre in West London UK, representing non-management staff in the following areas:

  • Broadcast Engineering (CCA and DOC in Siemens)
  • Television Studios (in BBC Studios and Post Production)
  • Post Production (in BBC Studios and Post Production)

ESPG Branch members are involved in a number of technical broadcasting tasks, including:

  • Engineering – studios, network switching, satellite operations, broadcast computer systems, mechanical workshops.
  • Operations – editing, cameras, sound, lighting, scenic, resource co-ordination.
  • Related areas – equipment stores, staff and equipment allocations, administration.

Branch Committee

The ESPG Branch Committee consists of Representatives from across the Branch that are subject to election by the Branch membership every November. The Committee meets on a regular basis to discuss matters of concern to members.

Committee Representatives meet local management to discuss and negotiate a range of issues, including working conditions and scheduling.

The Branch Committee appoints ESPG Safety Representatives, who, as well as meeting with local management to discuss safety issues, also carry out safety inspections of workplace areas.

History

ESPG was formed by the amalgamation of TV25 and PP&GD (Post Production & Graphic Design) BECTU Branches in June 2001.
